2024 WRMP – Draft

Every 5 years we are required to develop a water resource management plan (WRMP). The purpose of our WRMP is to explain how we intend to secure and deliver sustainable supplies of water to our customers. Our draft WRMP 2024 has been prepared in consultation with the Environmental Agency, DEFRA and Ofwat. On 5 December 2022 we launched the public consultation on our draft WRMP 2024, and we are inviting our customers and stakeholders to review the draft plan and to provide feedback.

We are not aware that any of the information contained in the draft Water Resources Management Plan is commercially sensitive and have therefore not excluded any information for these purposes or on the grounds of national security.

You are invited to respond to our draft WRMP 2024 in writing to the Secretary of State before the end of the consultation period which is 27th February 2023.

You can respond to our draft WRMP:

At the end of the consultation period we will review all comments received and, if required, we will update the draft WRMP. Our current plan is our Water Resources Management Plan 2019 which will be superseded once the draft Water Resources Management Plan 2024 is finalised.

Please be aware if you submit a representation on our Water Resources Management Plan 2024, it is a requirement for water companies to publish responses to the consultation. We will not share any information publicly. We will contact you with any updates to our plan, including notification when we publish a statement of response to the consultation and when we publish the final plan. If you would prefer us not to contact you, please state this in your representation.

Pollution Incident Reduction Plan

Pollution Incident Reduction Plan

Last Mile Water is required to publish an annual Pollution Incident Reduction Plan (PIRP). The purpose of the PIRP is to set out how we will reduce pollution incidents from our water and wastewater systems, including reviewing last year’s incidents and explaining the actions we will take to prevent them in future, as required under the Water Industry Act 1991.

This plan has been developed in line with guidance from the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales and reflects our commitment to improving environmental performance and protecting the water environment.

Drought plan

Drought Plan 2022

We have included a copy of our final 2022 drought plan. We are required to develop a Drought Plan. The purpose of the Drought Plan is to set out the measures that we plan to take before, during and after a drought. At present we do not own or operate its own water resources but relies on the provision of bulk supply transfers from regional supply companies. These companies are responsible for monitoring their water resources and bulk supply transfers. Our strategy is to liaise closely with host companies regarding overall water resources and to maintain lines of communication during periods of drought as outlined within the plan.

We have not excluded any information from the drought plan on the grounds of national security.

Drought Plan 2022

Draft Drought Plan 2027

Last Mile Water has prepared its draft Drought Plan for statutory consultation in accordance with the Water Industry Act 1991 and relevant guidance issued by Defra and the Environment Agency.

The draft plan sets out the actions we would take before, during and after a drought to maintain security of supply, manage demand, and protect the environment. It also describes how we monitor water resources and identify and respond to drought conditions as they develop.

We invite your representations on the draft plan as part of this consultation.
