Last Mile Water is part of the Last Mile group of companies, one of the largest providers of ‘last mile’ multi utility infrastructure connecting homes and businesses throughout the UK. Our independent water and wastewater company operates under the New Appointment and Variation (‘NAV’) process which is licensed and regulated by Ofwat.
Even though we own and manage the local networks, the wider regional incumbent water and sewerage companies still play an important role. Our networks connect to their upstream assets and they are responsible for the provision of bulk drinking water and, in most cases, the treatment of wastewater. Our bills therefore include our costs as well as the upstream bulk charges and our prices match those of the upstream water companies to ensure that customers are no worse off.
Ofwat, the economic regulator of the water sector in England and Wales, sets limits on what companies can charge. Ofwat has confirmed that bills will rise by an average of £31 each year over the next 5 years as part of a £1.4bn sector upgrade to meet new requirements set out by the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and the Drinking water Inspectorate.
